Ok so normal roast potaties that we all know and love would be generally deep fried or at least cooked in the fat of the meat you had in the oven… if i missed any other ways please forgive me!!

I LOVE roast potatoes… but the way I make them nowrather than when I was younger because they are just soo tasty and healthier than alternative ways to cook them!!..

I’d like you to take a look at your food labels….not the part where they tell you how much fat /protein/vitamins your getting…the ingredients section!

How many of the ingredients do you recognise…….

How many of the ingredients are man made…..

Make a list of anything thats in the recipe that isn’t ‘core ingredient’

For Example… if it’s a chicken korma….. you should have, chicken, onion, spices, coconut/coconut milk, probably salt thats pretty much it (if you were cooking a basic recipe fresh from scratch)

Anyway, back to your list.

Make a list, then go run some of the things you find through google……

I’ll be back tomorrow with some ‘classic’ additives and some information about these ‘classic’ additives and a few other snippets on healthier choices for non toxic eating and losing weight at the same time!!

Saving lbs and £’s!!! Good clean fresh food is the BEST way to eat yourself to healthy weight loss and healthy living. It takes less time than you think!

Just a quick note for you on how keeping a daily food diary over the next few weeks and being more aware of what you eat could save you a few extra pounds over the festive period.

So where to start…. A note book….a pen/pencil…5 minutes a day and away you go. Get a notebook from poundland or use one you have already but rip out any used pages, you just want this for your food diary…nothing else!

Take note of the time you eat…..

What you eat…. ( you don’t have to weight your food but be as accurate as you can manage)

What you have to drink (times too)

Any physical activity you do… walked the stairs, went to the gym, did a body combat class etc (and the time)

And how you feel…. as in great, tired, bloated, irritable etc etc.

Writing down what and when you eat, somehow makes you more accountable for what passes your lips!! It’s a worthwhile exercise to do, even without having a professional check it over afterwards. Some of you may have already done this exercise, with me or another trainer so you know what you are looking for and what you should change to make your intake better.

So you’re asking how does this save me on the weigt gain over the festive period???  Most of us are busy in the run up to Christma… no? Well we snack on the run, pick at the fridge inbetween work/shopping/parties (kids and adults) etc etc

It’s not till the first week in January and we notice the extra weight….. keep a little eye on it now and you will not have ‘quite so much’ to notice in January!! Trust me this really can make a difference!!

I recently had a visit from one of my good PT clients in Scotland!! He and his wife were over in Tenerife for 10 days holiday and dropped me an email out of the blue… It was sooo nice to see them both and really made my week to see them, it would have been great to spend more time with them but by the time we eventually managed to get together they were leaving the next day…

It did serve to remind me though of the wonderful relationships that were built with clients and friends in Scotland before the move to Tenerife. After much thought about how I could keep giving help and advice to the people I spent many happy hours with. I have decided to open up my weight management courses on line as well as the 8 week group course running in Tenerife.
